The United Nation's definition of sustainability is: A sustainable society meets the need of the present without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 

The planet earth will always exist. It is our decision to determine the quality of life for our children and ourselves and if we as humans will continue to thrive and exist on the planet. Sustainability helps us to make choices to determine our quality of life.
