Composting Waste at Grand Canyon National Park

Waste composting was created by the Park’s desire to find a better way of handling waste from the local sewage treatment plant. This initiative resulted from the park developing a comprehensive solid waste management plan. Now the waste is turned into compost and utilized into soil amendments for revegetating the South Rim Village area.
